The LEILANI FIRE is a newly reported wildfire incident located 20 miles southeast of Waikoloa Village on the island of Hawaii.
It is being managed by the Department of Defense and listed as being on the US Army Garrison Hawaii-Pohakuloa Training Area, where fire has burned on the Kona side of the Daniel K. Inouye Highway near Puuanuhulu.
About 25,000 acres of tall grass and chaparral have been consumed. However, there is a 50% containment status reached.
About 49 total personnel are assigned with 13 engines, five dozers, brush trucks, water tenders, and six helicopters.
