The FOUR CORNERS FIRE was ignited by lightning on August 13, 2022, located west of Cascade Lake near Lookout Peak in the West Mountain range on the Payette and Boise National Forests.  It is burning within Adams, Gem, and Valley Counties.

Firefighters have been challenged since the day it started due to steep terrain and limited access.

Evacuation orders were issued by the Valley County Sheriff’s Office to residents west of Lake Cascade. For updates on these evacuations, visit the County Sheriff’s page at

Boaters were notified by Fire and Law Enforcement officials to be aware of their surroundings while boating on the lake, as fire suppression aircraft are scooping out of the reservoir. They have asked those to stay away while fire aircraft are operating to protect the public and pilots of these very large type planes.

Fire command is under IC Steve Shaw with the Great Basin Team 4.

About 8,361 acres of grass and timber have been destroyed and there is an 11% containment status has been reached.

At this time, there is 650 total fire personnel along with 15 crews, 35 engines, and seven copters.

Total CTD has reached $8.9 Million Dollars.
