A new wildfire named the EDGEWOOD FIRE for its location near Old Edgewood Road and Weed Golf Club near Weed, California, where CAL FIRE was said to be assisting the City of Weed Firefighters with this wildfire burning in heavy fire fuels consisting of timber and brush.

It was said to be a 50×50 foot spot fire on top of the ridge burning parallel to the freeway.

Five engines and two CAL FIRE copters en route were also responding. They were able to quickly egress on the fire.

Two acres were reported originally as the fire in size just after 1400 hours PT, which was spreading into heavy timber and brush and spotting.

Two helitankers were working the area above the fire line.

About 15 minutes later, per HelCo, the forward progression of the fire has been stopped at one acre in total.

This new fire was burning west of the MILL FIRE and east of the MOUNTAIN FIRE.

The cause of this fire is unknown at the time of this update.

There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.
