KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON — The BOLT CREEK FIRE started on the morning of September 10, 2022, around 0515 hours and is located on Beckler Creek Road, about 1.5 miles north of Skykomish.

The cause is undetermined and under investigation. Some media and residents posting it has been determined to be human-caused but we are not going to guess as our “official” fire sources have not released that information.

The Fire is estimated by the WA DNR as 8,000 acres and has a 2% containment status. Fire behavior remains moderate with backing and with uphill runs.

According to Fire sources, it spread overnight towards the town of Index and with firefighters working last night, mainly on Hwy 2 and focusing on structure protection.

SEWA IMT 3 will transfer command to the larger Type 2 NIMT8 over the next few days.

CLOSED: Sultan SD closed Monday, 9/12/2022. No preschool or out-of-district transportation. (City of Sultan)

CLOSED: US 2 closed to milepost 44 (near Baring). Please expect the highway to remain closed at least through tonight and Monday. This is an active fire with evacuation notices. The current closure is from just east of Gold Bar to Skykomish. (WSDOT)

There is about 234 fire personnel.
