THIS IS OUR FINAL UPDATE.

MOUNT VERNON, WASHINGTON — Firefighters from the Big Lake Fire Department / Skagit County Fire District 9 along with surrounding areas were dispatched to a brush fire the size of 200′ x 100′ burning near Lake Cavanaugh Road.

The fire was burning in the the19600 block of SR 9, in the area of Lake Cavanaugh Road and SR 9.

The fire was put out at 1635 hours PT.

The fire started from an unknown ignition.

No structures were under threat, nor were there any evacuation orders in effect.

However, SR 9 at Lake Cavanaugh Road is still currently closed at this time.

This became a 2nd alarm brush fire at 1540 hours PT.

No aviation assets have been dispatched at this time.
