Published Saturday, October 15, 2022, 1330 hours PT

The human-caused SIOUXON FIRE was due to an abandoned campfire on September 22, 2022, at 1830 hours PT. It would be well-established in the Siouxon drainage, as it spread into steep terrain and into the 2020 BIG HOLLOW FIRE burn scar.

The fire incident is located about 13 miles northwest of Stabler, Washington State in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

At this current time, there is a total of eight personnel and two engines assigned to the incident under WA-GPF Forest Service Incident Commander Bellairs/Buettner (Trainee). Fire Officials will continue to monitor the fire daily and post road guards, as well as signage to keep the public safe.

About 437 acres of heavy timber and light slash have been destroyed.

The cost-to-date for fire suppression and containment efforts has reached $103,000.
