The MURPHY LAKE FIRE was discovered on August 18, 2022, from a lightning storm that passed over the area. Due to recently increased temps and dry conditions, the fire literally has been roused awake.
Correction | 10/15/2022 1400 PT | We pulled inadvertently incorrect info about this incident being located near Ely, Nevada which was reported on one of our fire source sites. This has been updated and corrected.
This is a lightning-caused fire, located about 2.5 miles south of Scenic, Washington State near the Murphy Lakes in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie Forest.
There have been 100 acres burned. It remains at a 0% containment status.
Fire behavior is now considered active.
Bolt Creek Fire personnel are currently monitoring and planning for a response if it is needed. For now, the incident is unstaffed.
For those in the area, there have been reports of the fire being visible from Highway 2.
CLOSED. PCT trail is closed between Deception Lakes (MP 2447.5) and Hope Lake (MP 2457).
