Update 1 – Saturday, October 22, 2022, 2045 PT
The Benson Creek Fire is located off of Benson Creek Road southeast of Twisp in Okanogan County, Washington State.
The fire was seen burning above the turnoff to Benson Creek Road.
Fire resources AHTANUM E-4104 E-644 E-672 E-7207 dispatched via the Central Washington Communications Center.
The dispatch time was 10/22/2022 at 1522 hours PT.
The current Incident Commander is Austin Vargas who assumed command at 1830 hours this evening.
At this time, about 100 acres of grass/shrubs and timber have been consumed.
Residents in the area reported heavy winds blowing the fire to the southeast and some voiced concerns due to many homes up in the Benson Creek area.
Those who follow wildfire incidents on scanner feed reported it heard clearly on frequencies but then it was moved to an encrypted TAC channel where all communications about the incident were obscured from the public.

Level 3 Evacuations as of 1551 PT: A Level 3 (Go Now!) has been issued for persons in the area of State Route 153 and Benson Creek Road.
ABOUT BENSON CREEK
The Benson Creek Road community is located southeast of Twisp, Washington State, a small north Central Washington State town. It sits at the confluence of the Twisp and Methow rivers. The town is said to have a population between 1,000-2,000 residents.
