MIAMI-DADE, FLORIDA — A morning fire ripped through an apartment building on Saturday, January 28, 2023, prompting more than 40 Miami0Dade Fire Rescue personnel and fire/EMS units to be dispatched to the scene.
The fire occurred in the 39500 block of NW 177th Street in North Miami (Miami Gardens).
Firefighters were challenged with heavy fire throughout the structure and were aggressively working to put out the fire.
Incident Cooperators included Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, the American Red Cross South Florida Region, Global Empowerment Mission and many others.
Media outlets were reporting this fire was caused by food on the stove and then spread to nearby apartment units, occurring between 1000-1030 hours PT. Major damage to the apartment structure occurred including a partial roof collapse.
An official cause has not been released by authorities and from experience, we know this type of fire incident will take Investigators awhile to investigate.
According to Global Empowerment Mission, they had multiple teams respond to the fire scene assisting with 110 displaced residents by distributing their emergency Miami Foundation Dade County necessitities kits, plus towels, pillows and quilts.
No injuries were reported.
