SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — A brush fire originally the size of 20×20 ignited from an unknown cause in a riverbed of Mast Park in the 9000 block of Willowgrove Court in Santee on Saturday, just after noon West Coast Time.
The fire was reported at 1219 hours PT.
Local firefighters responded immediately to the area and found access was difficult and the fire spotting ahead of them. Incident Command requested a water-dropping copter to respond to their incident.
Shortly, thereafter firefighters were able to make access but the fire had spread and had increased to 50×50 in size. A quick knockdown was made by E205, 9, and 5. Brush 1 and the copter were code greened.
The fire had been completely contained at 1241 hours PT and resources on the scene were said to remain out of service at the incident for another 30 minutes.
The cause is unknown at this time.
No injuries were reported.
