UPDATE 2: June 25, 2023, 1535 PDT
The initial call was units were responding to multiple structure fires in the area of 38th Avenue and Hunt Street in Gig Harbor (Pierce County), Washington State.
Evacuations were said to be in progress, which were occurring just after 1400 hours PDT per the Gig Harbor Police Department’s official statement on Twitter.
Per the Key Peninsula Fire Department, the fire had been upgraded to a 2nd alarm fire, which could be seen from Hwy 16. It is impacting traffic to the Wollochet and Hunt area.
There is also a 2nd brush fire off Tacoma Blvd, which firefighters are working to put out as well.
UPDATE 1: June 25, 2023, 1500 PDT
A brush fire burning in Gig Harbor could be seen from miles as it was originally reported as multiple fires burning an unknown number of structures.
(L) Gig Harbor Police (Source and Photo Credit) reported no structures were damaged as first reported.
Gig Harbor FD did not have an update on their social media platforms but they were showing on the scene as working to put the brush fire out.
The cause is unknown.
