The Los Angeles Fire Department was very busy today with multiple structure fires. Here is a recap of today’s firefighting activities:

STRUCTURE FIRE – Incident #0178 | 3900 block of S. Broadway Place

LAFD firefighters were dispatched to the historic area of south central Los Angeles for a fire in a commercial building, approximately 50 x 200 feet. Firefighters quickly breached the door gained access and were greeted by an obvious growth operation. Light smoke on the interior was present, while the fire was located inside one of the walls. Firefighters determined this wall had been exposed to an outside RV fire and was quickly tapped. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians reported.

STRUCTURE FIRE – Incident #0640 | 500 block of S. Rampart Blvd., Westlake

About 32 LAFD firefighters were on the scene of a three-story PRE-1943 center hall apartment complex with nothing showing. A 360* was performed and while firefighters were investigating, they found a small fire in the kitchen of a first-floor unit. It was quickly tapped within ten minutes. No extension was found. It was contained to the area of origin. No injuries were reported. No cause was determined at the time of this update.

STRUCTURE FIRE – Incident #0754 | 2200 block of N. Johnston Street, Lincoln Heights

Firefighters were dispatched to this location and the first due unit reported a two-story fourplex with a multi-family structure with fire showing from the second floor. Operations quickly were in the offensive fire attack mode and had tapped the fire within fourteen minutes from the time they arrived. A total of 54 firefighters pounced on this building fire. One injury to a civilian was reported and was transported to a nearby hospital in an unknown condition by Medics. No reports of injuries to firefighters.
