Beulah Fire – Colorado – Update 2

Updated @ 1930 PDT

Wind-driven Beulah Fire started on 10/3/2016 @ 1300 hours and was caused by human-intervention.

It is located approximately 15 miles SW of Pueblo, Colorado on the Pike – San Isabel National Forests.

The fire has consumed 5232 acres and is listed at a 90% containment status.  About 14 homes have been destroyed.  Cost-to-Date is $940,000.00.

Currently, fire behavior is moderate, flanking and backing.  It is burning heavy fuels in the St. Charles drainage.

There are 272 personnel in addition to 7 crews, 28 engines and 3 helicopters.

There is a RED FLAG WARNING currently in effect.

Newly Reported Fire: Beulah Fire – Colorado – Update 1

Updated @ 2130 hours PDT

Wind-driven Beulah Fire started on 10/3/2016 @ 1300 hours and was caused by human-intervention.

It is located approximately 15 miles SW of Pueblo, Colorado on the Pike – San Isabel National Forests.

The fire has consumed 5232 acres and is listed at a 75% containment status.  About 8 homes have been destroyed.

Currently, fire behavior is moderate, flanking and backing.  It is burning heavy fuels in the St. Charles drainage.

There are 327 personnel assigned to the incident.

There is a RED FLAG WARNING currently in effect.

Colorado’s Planned Prescribed Spring Fires in Three Forests

Delta Colorado | Three Forests: Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests are getting ready for Spring Prescribed Fire this year, which will take place from April through June.

The areas where the fires will be located in the following areas:

GUNNINSON NF

  • West Elk Burn: 14 miles W of Gunnison & 5 miles N or Blue Mesa Reservoir. 600 acres scheduled to be burned.
  • Myers Burn: 30 miles S of Gunnison in the Cochetopa Park area. 300 acres are scheduled to burn.
  • Los Pinos Burn:  35 miles S of Gunnison in the Cochetopa Park area. 1000 acres are scheduled to burn.

GRAND MESA, UNCOMPAHGRE NFs

  • Nick Mountain Burn:  30 miles E of Grand Junction and 4 miles SE of Molina.  720 acres are scheduled to burn.
  • Indian Creek Burn:  12 miles SE of Gateway and 39 miles SW of Grand Junction. Continuation of previous burning. 172 left to burn.
  • Glencoe Pine Burn: 25 Mesa Road, 13 miles NE of Nucla.
  • Western Implementation #5 Burn:  7 miles SE of Norwood near Goodenough Rd.  1,122 acres scheduled to burn.
  • Little Monitor Burn:  20 miles SW of Delta along Mesa Road, 20 miles SW of Delta. About 750 acres to burn.
