Incident Summary

Reports from multiple media sources and law enforcement agencies are starting to report a major 9-1-1 outage which is said to have started in South Dakota, Nebraska and portions of Nevada are now said to be spreading like wildfire across the United States.

Cause

The cause of the outage is unknown at the time of this post and local, state and impacted agencies are actively investigating.

NEBRASKA

Omaha Professional FF Assoc, IAFF L385: 911 partial outage. Dispatch Center: 402-444-5802. Confirmed with Lumen/CenturyLink confirms a statewide partial outage impacting Douglas County and other counties. (posted 4/17/2024 2030 PDT)

NEVADA

Cherry & Keya Paha County Emergency Management – They are aware of the 911 outage. Cherry County Dispatch Center 402-376-1890.

Nevada State Police – 9-1-1 service has been restored (NV) as of 2108 hours PDT (Southern Nevada area).

Las Vegas Metro PD – Per the LVMPD Enterprise Area Command: “All 9-1-1 & non-emerg calls are working. All people who called during the outage have been called back/provided with assistance. (posted 4/17/2024 2123 PDT)

Henderson PD – Text to 911 is working, as well as RApid SOS. If they can see your phone#, they will call back. No ETA on service restoration.

SOUTH DAKOTA

Aberdeen Police Department – Statewide 911 outage. Non-emergency phone number (dispatch center) can be reached at 605-626-7911. Texting 911 is also working.

Brown County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Management – 911 system now has been restored as of 2307 CST.

Fall River County Sheriff’s Office – The Fall River County Sheriff’s Office based out of Hot Springs, SD is reporting a 911 outage.

Union County Sheriff’s Office – SO released on their Facebook page that at 2250 CST, their 911 comm center is back up and functioning again. (2250 CST)

Spearfish PD – All 911 services have been restored. (Posted 4/17/2024 2230)
