Firefighters Respond to House Fire in South Seattle

Seattle, Washington – Firefighters from Skyway, Renton, Tukwila FD along with King County Medics were dispatched to a home in the 12900 block of 76th Avenue South just after 2000 hours PT on Thursday, July 30, 2020.

A full 360* of the building was unable to be completed by first arriving units due to overgrown brush and bushes surrounding the home.

It was stated that this appears it should be vacant but there remnants of people possibly living inside the structure.   When units were arriving, the fire had reached a 2nd alarm level but when Command arrived on-scene, the fire was downgraded to a first-alarm.

Units dispatched were Engines 322, 353, 311, 314, ; B311 (command), B313; L311, Rehab 202, MSO1 (medical), A322, Medic 5.

Firefighters quickly egressed on this fire knocking it down rather fast, then tapping the basement fire.  Primary and secondary searches were conducted but nothing was found.

There were no reported injuries or needs for displaced residents.

COLOCKUM FIRE

UPDATE 3 – JULY 2020 2330 PT

1,759 acres. 25% containment status. 67 total personnel staffing the incident. 2 crews, 11 engines and 2 water tenders. Cause is still under investigation. SE IMT 3, TEam 2 assumed command this morning at 0700 hours PT.   Replacement crews came in this morning to relieve tired personnel who had been on the fire line all night long.

LEVEL 3 evacuations in effect | Colockum, Kingsbury and Jumpoff Roads.  LEVEL 2 evacuations in effect for Tarpiscan, Stemilt Loop Roads. Timberline and Sherron Lanes, Big Springs Ranch Road.

Fire appears to have been laying down for the night.

UPDATE 2 – JULY 25, 2020 – 1230 PT

The fire started on private land 10 miles southeast of Wenatchee and 3 miles south of Malaga (Chelan County)  in  Washington State.  It started on 7/24/2020 around 1430 PT.  It was quickly escalated to a 2-alarm brush fire.

The cause is currently unknown and under investigation. Sources are reporting the fire from 1,000 – 1,300 acres variation. 15% contained. Brush and grass. Active fire behavior with running.

WA DNR – SE WA IMT took command of the fire management at 0700 hours today. 282 total personnel with 7 crews, 32 engines, 3 dozers, 4 water tenders and aircraft on order. Agencies include:  Chelan County Fire District #1, BLM, DNR. Chelan Co SO, Chelan Co Emergency Management, WA State Patrol.

Field camp is located at Wenatchee School District’s Lincoln Elementary School.

Current Weather Report (1210 PT). 79*F temps with 0% precip, winds are at 6 mph and RH at 27% with sunny skies. Tomorrow’s temp are forecasted to increase to a high of 94*F temps and a low of 66*F.  The weather will remain in the mid-90’s until Thursday when it will drop back down in the 80’s.

An unknown number of structures have been damaged. No word on if there are any that have been destroyed.  60 homes are still under threat, as well as high value assets such as several orchards and crops within the fire perimeter.

LEVEL 3 (Go Now!) Evacuations – Colockum and Kingsbury and Jumpoff Roads.

LEVEL 2 (Get Ready) Evacuations – Tarpiscan Road.

Road Closures | Kingsbury and Colockum Roads.  All south and east of the intersection of Colockum and Tarpiscan.

Cost-to-date of fire suppression and containment efforts have reached $200,000.

State Mobe was approved on 1830 by the WA Fire Marshal’s Office.

Incident Cooperators include:

Wenatchee School District. Red Cross.  Chelan County Emergency Management. WA Fire Marshal’s Office. Zone 3 Fire Rehab (2 members).

The Incident Command Post or ICP as more commonly known as will be in the field of the Lincoln Elementary, a Wenatchee School District property.   The School District sent out a presser to all to advise of additional personnel on school property.

Due to the COVID, the Red Cross was unable to set-up a shelter which all evacuees seeking shelter but make an appointment by calling the organization at 509-670-5331.

LAFD BATTLES COMMERCIAL FIRE ON PICO BLVD | 1

UPDATE 1

INCIDENT SUMMARY

The LAFD is battling a large commercial structure fire when they were dispatched on Friday morning around 1132 PT to the 9000 block of West Pico Boulevard in the Pico-Robertson area.

The structure is a 50×100 commercial building was taking on heavy smoke when first due units arrived on-scene.

This is a Greater Alarm status fire.

FIRE OPERATIONS

1240 PT

Fire burning  mostly in the middle to rear of the building.

1225 PT

Master streams now in place with additional firefighters staffing large-diameter handlines both from the ground and from exposure building’s roof. Partial roof collapse on the fire building has occurred.

No further needs at this time.  No  injuries reported.

1203 PT

Heavy fire and difficult to reach the seat of the fire. Now, in defensive operations. All firefighters were pulled from the roof and exiting the building.

Master streams and large-diameter hand lines are being repositioned.

Reported commercial structure fire. 50 x 100 foot building. Heavy smoke showing.  2 additional Task Forces requested.  Escalated to a Greater Alarm fire.

Firefighters are working to find the seat of the fire, ewhile others are working to breach entry on the exterior.

Update 1

A storm produced multiple lightning caused fires on the Modoc National Forest with some of them on the Mad River Ranger District on July 21, 2020 around 2000 hours PT .

Land destroyed by fire has reached a total of 2,539 acres, with variations of containment statuses.

Here are the discovered fires and the sit reps for each one.

ALLEN FIRE.  Near Allen Butte. Difficult to access area. 800 acres. Smoker Jumpers and other crews working to hold it along CR 85.

CALDWELL FIRE.  Near Caldwell Butte.  SE of the Lava Beds. 1,500 acres and growing very quickly on Wednesday due to increased winds from a thunder cell. Close to the town of Tionesta. No evacuations have been ordered.
