The Baltimore City Fire Department is deeply saddened by the recent and untimely death of Firefighter/Paramedic Michael Vincent Manieri. Firefighter/Paramedic Manieri was born on October 2, 1971 and passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2012. He was 40 years old.

Firefighter Manieri was a 12 year veteran of the Baltimore City Fire Department. He was appointed on July 12, 1999 as a Firefighter/Paramedic/Apprentice. On July 17, 2002 Michael was promoted to Firefighter/Paramedic and was assigned to Engine Company #29 located in the Park Heights Community. During his tenure at Engine Company #29 Michael committed himself to learning the dynamics of the fire service industry. Michael’s concentrated effort and study assisted him in being approved to serve as Acting Pump Operator and Fire Lieutenant for his suppression company.

The latter part of Michael’s career was spent working in the Department’s Human Resources Division. Mike, as he was affectionately called, made himself well known throughout the administration by the high quality of work that he produced. Mike was a quiet spirit, but had a great affinity for those around him. “Mike had a heart of gold and would give not only his last, but his first to a stranger in need”

states Bobbie Ryer Personnel Administrator for the Baltimore City Fire Department.

While serving the department, Michael’s motivation and zeal inspired him to volunteer his service as a member of the Special Events Team. The Special Events Team provides an invaluable service to the Baltimore City Fire Department, organizations within the public and private sectors, as well as local medical institutions.

In 2009 during the department’s Annual Medals Day Ceremony Michael was awarded and presented with an Appreciation Award for his participation as a member of the Special Events Team.
The viewing will be held on Saturday and Sunday, April 21-22, 2012 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Rucks Funeral Home located at 5305 Harford Rd Baltimore, Maryland 21214. His funeral will be Monday, April 23, 2012 at Shrine of Little Flower Church, 3500 Belair Rd 21213 at 11:00 a.m.
