At approximately 5:03pm on April 23, 2012, Seattle Fire units responded to a multiple level fire at the 6700 Roosevelt Apartments. Flames were visible upon fire units arriving from the top floor dwelling.
Aid Units 9 & 25, Battalions 4 & 6, Engines 17, 38, 40, 22, 16, Safety 2, Deputy 1, Ladders 5 & 9, Air 9 and Staff 10 ramped up their “full” response at 5:03pm with Ladders 6 & 8 being dispatched at 5:06pm and Engine 8 one-minute later. Marshal 5 (Fire Investigation Unit) at 5:30pm and finally ending with Chaplain 6 (Fire Chaplain) at 5:46pm. No injuries were reported.
Greenlake KOMO (via their tweet on Twitter) reported the cause was due to a cigarette. Disclaimer: No information was released on Seattle Fire’s fire blog and nothing was recieved officially from the Seattle Fire Department on the cause or estimated damage.
The fire was quickly contained and no tenants were injured nor firefighters.
The Seattle Fire Buff Society, which is a non-profit organization had two REHAB support members on scene: Lee Kane, Support 4 and John Odegard, Support 8 (Fire Photographer).
