At approximately 1541 hours EST, a fire broke out in the forward compartment on the nuclear sub, The USS Miami SSN 755 on Wednesday, May 23, 2012.  The sub docked back in March at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Seavey Island, just over the New Harmpshire-Maine border.  It was brought in for system upgrades and maintenance.  The ship’s homeport is Groton, CT.

The 4-alarm blaze’s cause is yet undetermined.  Currently, fire crews are on scene battling the blaze.  Already six (6) firfighters have been hurt.  Lifeflight was grounded due to the weather, but transmissions broadcasted are evac’ing patients quickly. 

Equipment has brought in from far away as Boston’s Logan International Airport, approximately 60 miles away from the scene.

More updates will be provided as they are received.  All broadcasting channels are being monitored.
