June 26—A Seattle Fire Investigator determined an early morning fire aboard a houseboat on Westlake Avenue North was an accidental fire. The damage estimate is $11,000.
The Fire Alarm Center received a 911 call at 4:59 a.m. for reports of flames visible inside a houseboat in the 2000 block of Westlake Avenue North. Arriving firefighters found the fire was knocked down by the owner of the boat who used a fire extinguisher on the flames. Inside the houseboat, firefighters found the fire had burned a couch and extended to the cabinets and the microwave.
Firefighters treated the boat owner for smoke inhalation and he declined transport to hospital.
The Fire Investigator estimates the fire caused $10,000 damage to the structure of the houseboat and $1,000 to the contents.
