August 23 – Three separate brush fires occured within a one block radius near the intersection of 10th Ave S and S Henderson St. The first one was yesterday at 6:50 pm. A small fire about 400 square feet was started by transients cooking. While Engine 26 was extinguishing that fire, they saw smoke coming from a block away. More units were called to the second brush fire which was threatening a house. The second fire, which was started by fireworks, was extinguished with minimal damage to the nearby structure. The third brush fire was dispatched early this morning at 1:53 am. A resident in the area heard crackling and called 9-1-1. Engine 26 arrived to find another fire located about 50 ft. from the previous fire. This fire was extinguished with only about 50 square foot area burned and was determined to be caused by a transient cooking.
