As a writer sharing your stories in all professions: Fire/EMS and as First Responders, including Law Enforcement, I have created two poems dedicated to all who responded to the West, Texas plant explosion and to the Boston Marathon. It is the least I could do to contribute to those involved and as a Tribute to those who died.
Though there is a copyright on both of them, please feel to share and use our credit. We ask that you not use these for commercial or for profit purposes.
You were the one that responded after the blast,
To the many injured around you,
You stayed calm real fast,
Relying on your training you knew.
You knew this was something very bad,
When you saw the choas in the streets,
Stunned runners and bystanders sad,
And running to where everyone meets.
…
It’s a very sad day in history,
Where several bombs disrupted a celebration,
Changing lives forever you see,
Making a mark across our Nation.
You made a difference on that day,
Answering that important call,
For doing the right thing we say,
And acting as a Hero for us all.
– LR Swenson
It was the least I could do as a Tribute to those who were Heroic on that fateful day in their attempts to save as many injured as they could. – Lisa
You rushed to the call,
First the blast,
Then the fire ball,
It wasn’t supposed to be your last.
Putting your life on the line,
Unconditionally, for those who made the call,
You say this was a call to duty, that’s fine,
… But we consider you as a Hero to All.
We will never forget you, my friend,
For your amazing dedication to serve all,
So that Others May Live to the end,
That is how a Hero answers the call.

“This was written in dedication to the volunteer firefighters and the police officer who were killed in the line of duty.”
