Holiday Incident (Search & Rescue)

Santa Fe, NM – On August 30th, three fire personnel were dispatched to a fire reported on the Jimenez Ranger District.  The crew of three, two being fire personnel and the third, Engine Captain Token Adams (wildland firefighter) responded to the area to search for the fire.  They separated in different crews. 

Upon locating the fire, the two fire personnel attempted to reach Engine Captain Adams on the hand-held radio with no response.  After several attempts were made throughout the afternoon, SAR teams were deployed to locate him.  Engine Captain Adams has been missing for three days.

Currently, multiple Federal, State, County and local agencies along with hundreds of volunteers are continuing their SAR efforts.

In a briefing today, at 1800 hours, search efforts continued after rain storms and a short delay.  There are over 250 individuals from Carson National Forest, NM Search and Rescue, Santa Fe National Forest, NM State Police, NW National Guard and various other organizations.  The State Police have offered a helo as a resource in the search efforts to locate the Engine Captain.
