Officer Jamie Buenting, 37, was shot and killed about 1:40 a.m. Friday during an attempted arrest of a suspect wanted on a felony domestic assault warrant.

Officers went to an address on Pleasant Street following a tip that the suspect, Corey Trott, was there. Officers confirmed that Trott was at the location, however, he refused to surrender and barricaded himself inside the house. Officers surrounded the house and a standoff ensued for a few hours.

During the standoff, officers saw movement inside the house and again attempted to convince the suspect to surrender. Trott still refused to surrender. During the second contact with officers, Trott fired a single gunshot, striking Officer Buenting.
