Fire Summary:

Hand crews and air resources continue working to contain a wildfire that remains within the Ishi Wilderness Area boundary north of Campbellville in Tehama County.

As of 3:30 p.m. today (Jan. 6) the Campbell Fire has grown to approximately 680 acres due to northeast winds funneling down the Deer Creek drainage. The fire is traveling west along the south side of the Deer Creek drainage and is 40% contained. Higher than normal temperatures humidities in the low teens and live fuel moistures are the same as for the Chips Fire in 2012.

Nor Cal Team I will transition with Lassen National Forest officials assuming command at approximately 6 p.m. tonight. About 500 personnel from the Forest Service Cal Fire Bureau of Land Management and Chico Fire Department and a half dozen air craft remain assigned to the Fire. Many crews worked through last night to help reach the new containment date and keep the fire from crossing Wildcat Creek. Containment is anticipated on Wednesday January 8.

No structures are threatened or have been damaged and no evacuations are planned. The fire remains more than two miles from Campbellville. It is in steep rugged country making progress slow. Fire crews have checked the spread on the south side protecting the community of Campbellville.
