Placer County, CA | The less than a week old fire has been anything but a “short” excursion for residents evacuated out of the area.  The fire is located on the Eastside of Interstate 80 in the Applegate area began on October 8th around 1333 hours and has a 90-percent containment status.

The cause of the fire still remains under investigation.

Though low number of acres of 459, compared to others in the State – it has caused quite a bit of destruction burning six residences and four outbuildings.  Currently, the fire is threatening 400 homes.

Over 800 Fire personnel are currently on the fireground continuing with mop-up of the fire interior and patrolling the perimter.  The fire was turned over to the Nevada, Yuba, Placer unit today at 0700 hours.  Fire resources are being demobilized to return to their own areas.

Resources on scene: 45 engines, 26 fire crews, 4 dozers and 3 water tenders along with a CAL Fire IMT 1 Team.
