At approximately 1315 hours, a wildland fire broke out on Wednesday, May 20, 2015. It is believed to be human-caused but is still under investigation.

The Lat / Long is 31.801 / -110.702.  It is located approximately ten [10] miles N of Sonoita, AZ, alongside SR 82 at approximately milepost 44 in the Sierra Vista Ranger District of Coronado National Park.

As of 1630 hours today, the fire had reached up to 500 acres.

If the fire continues to grow, it will put one structure in its path which is now five [5] miles away.  Fire Managers estimated the fire has a moderate potential to grow as it burns in heavy fire fuels, including grass and brush.

There is a 0% containment status at this time.

  • 85 personnel
  • 2 Type 2 handcrews
  • 8 engines
  • 4 watertenders
  • 1 heavy airtanker
  • 4 single engine airtankers
  • 1 Type 1 helo
  • 1 Type 3 helo
  • & misc overhead personnel
