CA Wildfire: Pilot Fire | August 14, 2016

Incident Summary

San Bernardino National Forest, CA | The Pilot started on 8/7/2016 around 1210 Hours PDT from an unknown cause.  It is still under investigation.  The fire is located between Pilot Rock Ridge and State Highway 173 in Hisperia, California.


The fire is under Unified Command with CAL Fire’s San Bernardino Unit and the with the San  Bernardino County Sheriff Office.

There are 960 firefighters assigned to this incident alongside the aid of 30 Crews, 37 Engines, 3 Dozers, 7 Water Tenders and 10 Helicopters.

Size & Containment

The fire has consumed 8,110 acres forcing many evacuations.  Fire crews have 98% containment status.

Current Conditions

Fire Managers expect minimal spread with interior to burn some pockets within the perimeter.  Temps are expected to be in the 95-100’s range today with winds to be 15 mph from the SW and gusting up to 35 mph on ridge tops. RH will dip down to 15%.
