COACHELLA, Calif. – A brush fire broke out in the 83000 block of Avenue 54 in Coachella California around 1446 hours on Monday, June 11, 2018, where firefighters from the CAL FIRE – Riverside County FD.
RESOURCES
Firefighters, overhead team and equipment deployed and worked together from CAL FIRE – Riverside, Cathedral City FD, Morongo FD, Palm Springs FD, Riverside County FD and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office with some of the resources listed below:
- 17 engines
- 1 truck company
- 4 overhead personnel
- 2 water tenders
- 1 PIO

CURRENT STATUS
- 1544 hours | First due Firefighters first reported multiple debris piles with one home on fire and actively spreading into a date palm grove. Firefighters will be on-scene for a long period of time. 1 home destroyed.
- 1601 hours | The fire has spread and is currently 2 acres. Observation of significant wind change with gusts up to 15 – 20 mph. Additional resources requested and are en route.
- 1758 hours | A PIO has arrived. The forward ROS has stopped and fire held at 2 acres. 2 vehicles have been destroyed, plus 1 structure. Road closed on Avenue 54 between Jackson Street and Calhoun Street. 3 power lines are down within the fire.
CAUSE
There is no known cause at this time and is currently under investigation.
