IRON WORKS FIRE

INCIDENT SUMMARY

A wildfire broke out on March 7, 2019, around 1545 hours MDT in Valencia County in Los Chavez, New Mexico.

There have been 139 acres of grass, bosque and brush that have been scorched.  Along with destruction of burned acres, two structures were lost.

A cause has not been determined and is under investigation.

RESOURCES

There are 55 firefighters still assigned and attached to this incident.

No injuries to firefighters or civilians have been reported.

CURRENT FIRE STATUS

As of this morning, crews were able to gain a 25% containment around the fire and were expected to have reached a higher status at 50% by the end of this evening.  They will focus on strengthening containment lines and mopping up hot spots.

Fire behavior is listed as minimal.

WEATHER FORECAST

Wind and rain may impact the area over the next few days.
