SOMERVILLE,MASSACHUSETTS | April 3, 2021, Saturday
Firefighters were dispatched to a large 2.5-story wood frame well-involved house under construction fire with extension to four other dwellings on Saturday, April 3, 2021. Social media stated construction workers were on site when the fire broke out but made it out safely.
This is known as Box 4-479 at 195 Morrison Avenue, Somerville, MA.
A 3rd alarm was called at 0934 hours PT by Command due to three houses on fire.

Less than two minutes later, a 4th alarm was escalated due to three houses and another one down the street now on fire. Flying embers was the cause of the fourth structure being impacted.
Most of the fire was knocked down in the original fire building but not before it had collapsed and extended to other nearby structures. (1005 hours PT)
The following agencies responded as mutual aid are:
4th Alarm
Boston Sparks Association – A10, Cataldo Tango-1.
Medford Fire – Engine 5, Ladder 1.
3rd Alarm
Cambridge FD – Engines 4, 5, Ladder 1, Squad 4, Division 2.
2nd Alarm
Somerville FD – C-1
An Accountability Chief was established at 1040 hours PT, which is Chief 34. Dispatch was working to get all of the units for all that are still on the fire ground. All units need to check in with the Accountability Chief Officer before leaving the scene. We believe this would be the same as a PAR for Fire Departments here in Washington State.
At 1045 hours PT, it had been over one hour on the incident timer. Command advised they were still in the midst of heavy overhauling. Some units were picking up their hoses.
American Red Cross is ready to take the six displaced adults from this fire. They will take care of their shelter and other needs.
Both the State Fire Marshal Office and the Somerville Police Department Arson Investigator have been notified.
