TUKWILA, WASHINGTON

Westfield Shopping Mall in Tukwila is more known to locals as the Southcenter Mall with its huge brand name stores, such as Macy’s, Nordstroms, JC Penneys, a movie theater, cool restaurants and other amazing attractions. It is usually busy at all times of the day and night. Tonight was another night as business as usual, except for a shooting that brought Tukwila Police and Fire to the scene.

Police say an isolated shooting incident occurred around 1830 hours PT this evening, just outside of JC Penney store in the parking lot.

Two shooting victims, one female and one male in critical condition were transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington per the Tukwila Police Department

They also state the shooter fled the scene. There was no information as to the person’s description, point-of-last-seen, and/or there is a vehicle known. Police are currently searching for the suspect. It is unknown if the person wanted is known to the police.

However, police did confirm the shooter fled the scene. They are currently looking for him/her.

According to Social Media history and other sources, this incident comes on the heels of another shooting that took place at the mall in May 2021, where two men were shot. Information related to this mall with other similar incidents dating back to 2009. Over the years, we know Security has been bolstered inside and outside the mall to keep its shoppers safe and quell any form of potential violence from breaking out.

Police say there is no danger to the general public.

Tukwila Fire units Medic 71 and M4 were dispatched at 1837 hours PT to the 1200 block of Southcenter Mall.
