Published Monday, 1/31/2022, 1930 hours PT

Firefighters from the Winston-Salem Fire Department in Forsyth County, North Carolina have pulled out of commercial fire due to ammonia nitrate on-site and the Fire Department states cannot reach the area with water or masterstreams enough to keep it cool.

A full collapse of the structure has occurred and the Fire Department states the chemicals are restricted in its current location.

The incident scene is located in the 2400 block of North Cherry Street at a fertilizer plant.

With that being said, the city of Winston-Salem has issued mandatory evacuation orders within a one-mile radius of the address 4440 North Cherry Street. All fire apparatus and equipment are being abandoned as those are leaving the area.

A fire attack has been happening for the last three hours (1416 PT). The current operational period will continue into the night until 0730 EST hours on Tuesday morning
