Update 1 – Friday, December 23, 2022, 1500 hours PT

VINA del MAR, CHILE — Almost 800 Chilean firefighters from about 100 units, worked throughout the night to suppress a wildfire burning in the area.

Around 1742 hours last night which is about 2142 hours their time, the wildfire was said to be out of control with about 200 damaged homes.

Homes located in Puerto Montt, Puerto Aysen, Cabritera, Forestal Alto, and Toma Felipe Camiroaga sectors in Vina del Mar, were evacuated.

Structure protection was the primary focus on Thursday night as you can see in the photo posted b the Firefighters of Chile below.

It is unknown what the cause of the wildfire is from.

There are no known reports of injuries or losses at this time.
