Incident Summary:

3/31/2023 2300 EDT | According to the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, “We have had a severe weather event along the southern edge of the City of Sullivan. This area has suffered extensive damage. Electricity is out, and many cellphones carriers are down. There are dangerous power lines down and multiple gas leaks. Emergency responders are working in the area. Stay clear of this area if you do not need to be here.

Fire Technologies

4/1/2023 058 EDT | FD is using drones to check for injuries, scoping out the area for damages.

Incident Command:

“Fire Command” is Sullivan Command. Command Post is located at the Sullivan County EMA building at 60 W. Harris Street, Sullivan, IN.

Staging:

Silver Section.

Five (5) AMR of Evansville has been deployed..

Incident Cooperators:

Sullivan County Dispatch, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, Sullivan County EMA, Sullivan PD, NWS Indianapolis, and Indiana State Police.

SHELTER INFORMATION

Evacuation Shelter:

A shelter and command post have been set up at Sullivan County EMA building at 60 W Harris St, Sullivan, IN.

Power lines:

Down over roadways

Railroads:

CSX, and other train traffic shut down due to gas leaks.

High Energy Lines:

4/1/2023 0106 EDT | County Rd 175 W, power lines down over roadway

4/1/2023 0105 EDT | Request if Duke Energy power lines no longer energized, requested again.

4/1/2023 0055 EDT | Second request was made to Command. They don’t have cell service.

4/1/2023 0051 EDT | Firefighters requesting to make sure the power company verifies the lines are not energized due to them not being able to access a lot of the areas.

4/1/2023 0109 EDT | Tree on fire. On CR 175 W.

4/1/2023 0059 EDT | Priority 9-1-1 calls incoming to Dispatch.

4/1/2023 0047 EDT | 700 N, Structure Fire call. Flames visible.

4/1/2023 0053 EDT | Heat signature found at a local home. An FD UTV is en route. No exact address was given.

3/31/2023 2300 EDT | Silver Section: entrapment in basements, rescues are ongoing by the FD.
