Friday Fire Update for 9/1/2023, 2100 PDT

Location. 15 miles SW of DeRidder, E of Merryville, S of Hwy 190, and N of Singer, Louisiana

Incident Summary. The fire ignited on 8/22/2023, from an undetermined cause, on private land. Moderate fire behavior with flanking, backing, and creeping. Communities of Merryville and DeRidder were threatened.

Current Status. It has burned 31,242 acres of southern rough, light slash, and chaparral. with a 50% containment. Evacuations and road closures are in effect.

Threatened. Energy, communication, and railroad infrastructure were threatened.

Resources. A total of 263 personnel along with 1 Type1 crew, 4 copters, 2 fixed-wing aircraft, 19 Type 6 engines, 13 Type 2 tractor plow units, 8 dozers, 4 water tenders, 5 ambulances, and additional support under the command of the CIMT SA Red Team.
