Oregon Wildfires | Active | 10-13-2023
There were two new wildfires that started in the Pacific Northwest (Washington State and Oregon) within the last 24 hours. Four wildfires remain active per the Fire Officials with the National Interagency Fire Center based out of Boise, Idaho.
Anvil and Flat Fires
Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, USFS
Both being managed by the NW Team 12, a Type 2 IMT
1. Anvil Fire – This wildfire broke out on August 25, 2023, which is located eight miles east of Port Orford, OR remains active but has minimal fire behavior with smoldering still being observed. Level 1 evacuation notices are still in effect for those who reside or are near the fire itself. The fire has burned 22,170 acres and is now listed at an 80% containment status. 343 total fire personnel along with 9 cress, 8 engines, and a single helicopter remain assigned to this wildfire. The cause is still undetermined and under investigation.
CTD: $52.3 Million Dollars.

2. Flat Fire – The Flat Fire ignited on July 15, 2023, and is located two miles southeast of Agness, OR. This fire is also presenting minimal fire behavior but with short-range spotting. About 34,242 acres have been destroyed, however, there is a 93% containment status reached at the time of this update. There are 62 total personnel with 2 crews and 3 engines. 2 structures were lost. This was determined to be a human-caused wildfire.
CTD: $72.9 Million Dollars.
3. Camp Creek Fire

The Camp Creek Fire was sparked by lightning on August 25, 2023, and has been burning in the Mt. Hood National Forest, about 10 miles northeast of Sandy, OR, is displaying minimal fire behavior with short-range spotting. About 2,055 acres burned with a 62% containment status. About 66 total personnel are still assigned along with 3 crews and 4 engines. CTD: $23 Million Dollars
4. Marsh Fire

This fire is burning in the Klamath Marsh National Wildlife Refuge and in the Fremont Winema National Forest near Silver Lake Hwy and Miltary Crossing. is said to be caused by lightning that passed over the area. It is about eight miles northeast of Chiloquin, OR. At this time, Fire Officials report that there is minimal fire behavior with smoldering activities. Only three fire personnel remain staffed on this wildfire event. There have been 2,663 acres burned but there is an 82% containment status. CTD: $779,000.

Other OR Wildfire Activity
Today, there were some smoke checks, small wildfires, and false alarms.
1. Hair Pin Fire – This wildfire broke out in the Umatilla National Forest which prompted personnel and equipment to be dispatched through the John Day Comm Center at 1532 hours for Incident #ORUMF-23244. The fire was quickly brought under control and held to 0.1 acres. No cause is known.
