There was one such sad story shared on a professional platform, LinkedIn, where an Officer who had been on maternity leave after having a child came back to work as a Police Officer in the Fall of 2016.

Unfortunately, the new mother, wife, and sister would not know that by the end of this day, her life would be cut short as she and her partner while on the job were ambushed and killed while both of them were responding to a domestic disturbance.

Their lives mattered.

Dr. Zerebny, Officer Lesley Zerebny’s father-in-law created the clothing line, End of Watch Heroes where 100% of the proceeds benefit and go to the Fallen Heroes Families fund. This was created in memory of those who have been left behind and are financially struggling due to the loss of an income/or main breadwinner have another resource to help them in life.

This article was paraphrased from the story shared on Linked In by the First Responder Benefit Association (FRBA), a non-profit organization that brings a “Bright light in a dark place for the families of fallen First Responders.” They are located in South Carolina and often share inspiring stories on their LinkedIn profile and with thousands of followers and connections.

According to their website/business profile, they state the reality of first responders dying is an unspeakable number of an average of 21 First Responders lose their lives every month while active in their roles. This can and often does become a financial burden and emotional undue hardship on the families that are left behind.

You can help the FRBA by visiting their site at http://www.FRBA.org and find out ways you can help them support fallen First Responders. Their donation portal can be found at https://www.frba.org/donate/

May all of those First Responders who have been killed in the line of duty in the past, and present, and those who may face the same fate in the future – we are thinking of you, your families, and those who may be impacted your/their loss.
