Incident Summary
Firefighters with the Seattle Fire Department were all currently on the scene of a commercial structure fire located in the 600 block of South Industrial Way, which is in the SODO area of Seattle (King County), Washington State. (USA).
Flames were visible on the second floor of a two-story commercial structure when the first units arrived at 2034 hours PDT, say Fire Officials.
After knocking down the bulk of the fire, EMS vehicles started to go back into service followed by several engines and other apparatus just after 2100 hours PDT. All units except for a few remained on the scene (reduced on-scene response) as of 2130 hours PDT.
Fire Location
The fire is located at The Dog Resort, a free-range daycare, with cage-free boarding options and some of the largest outdoor play areas in Seattle according to their website. About 21 units were dispatched to the fire ground which included the following: A10 A14 AIR10 B5 B7 DEP1 E10 E13 E27 E30 E36 L1 L11 L3 M32 M44 MAR5 R1 REHAB1 SAFT2 and STAF10.
Firefighters were reporting several challenges from the initial fire attack to crews calling in multiple dogs running loose and requesting additional resources to round them up. (2038 hours PDT).
Fire Operations
Division 2: (2nd floor Division) reported at 2100 hours PDT, that the fire was listed as under control with both the primary and secondary searches completed, and nothing was found on the second floor including the mezzanine. Radio traffic stated the fire room was on the mezzanine.
Division 1: (1st-floor Division). Primary and secondary searches were completed and nothing was found.
Incident Timer: Firefighters have been on the fire ground since dispatched for thirty minutes. (2104 PDT). Command was notified of being on the scene of the fire by the Fire Alarm Center known as the FAC at 2113 hours for 40 minutes.
Cause
The cause of the fire is currently unknown at the time of this post as the Fire Marshal Investigator (Marshal 5) is on the scene. We will do a follow-up to this post after everything has been investigated and the FD has released further information.
