ILLINOIS — Scanner feed picked up on a Mayday, Mayday, Mayday, Firefighter down incident call during a 2-11 alarm structure fire in the 800 block of North Hamlin in Chicago on Sunday, November 3, 2024.
Media outlets are reporting that firefighters responded to a structure fire, a three-story with heavy fire on floors two and three with people trapped.
Firefighters reported the main body of the fire was knocked down and was listed at being under control at 1647 hours PT (West Coast time). It was unknown if they were currently conducting primary or secondary searches, but they were quickly in progress.
Hot spots remained inside the once fully engulfed structure but were starting to subside as firefighters worked to locate and put them out.
The member was reported to have been found and was said to have multiple unknown injuries was quickly assessed and whisked away in a Medic unit to Cooke County Hospital with an escort.

FF Anderson, a 24-year veteran of the Chicago Fire Department was severely injured on October 25, 2024, while engaging a working fire in the Burnside community. He suffered greatly from injuries he sustained while working during the incident, which resulted in permanent paralysis, leaving him with a long and difficult road to recovery.
His fellow firefighters from CFD, E82, T42 and A37 have established a fund to help with a massive amount of medical bills and an overwhelming financial hardship.
