INCIDENT SUMMARY

A tornado touched down in multiple areas in the County on Saturday, December 28, 2024, after local forecasters warned residents and the general public of an intense tornado crossing over Hwy 124, about eight (8) miles south of Winnie, Texas.

At this time, the tornado had been on the ground for a minimum of one hour. This is when a Special PDS tornado warning was issued for central & southern Jefferson County.

REPORTS

Houston, TX: One reported as dead and others injured.

Katy, TX: tornado touches down.

Porter Heights, TX: tornado touches down with reported damage near FM 1314 and Gene Campbell Road in Montgomery County.

Cypress, TX: Tornado touches down.

Alving (between) Liverpool, TX: Tornado touched and destroyed multiple homes.

5100 Proctor Street, TX: Possible house fire dispatched @ 1539 PT. The homeowner is calling in a house fire behind her house who is in Mexico after learning a neighbor called her. No fire found per FD. 1547 PT. (Scanner Feed: Broadcastify)

Splendora, TX: At 1021 hours PT, a large tornado about three miles NW of Splendora was said to be launching debris 15,000 feet into the air. (Source: Meteorologist Eric Graves on FB)

Port Arthur, TX: A strong track tornado was said to be crossing south of Port Arthur at 1353 PT which had been ongoing for one hour and continued to move to the east. (Source: Storm Chaser Adam Lucio on FB)

Dickinson/Southern League City: Roofs taken off, cars blown into houses.
