INCIDENT SUMMARY
DELRAY BEACH — A Fire-Rescue Ladder truck was hit by a Brightline train on Saturday, December 28, 2024, around 1045 hours EDT.
The incident occurred on Atlantic Avenue and Southeast First Avenue, injuring both firefighters on the truck and passengers on the train.
This is a Mass Casualty Incident or MCI for short.
INJURIES
Fire – Three firefighters were transported to a local hospital and were reported to be in stable condition by the Police Department.
Train Passengers – 12 passengers were transported with minor injuries to a local hospital where they were being treated.
INCIDENT COOPERATORS
The incident is in Unified Command between the Brightline (Train), Delray Police Department and the NTSB.
Delray Fire & Rescue – Their truck was hit and firefighters were injured.
NTSB – The National Traffic & Safety Board is actively investigating on-site.
Delray Poice Department – Actively investigating the crash site.
Palm Beach County Fire & Rescue handles fire and EMS calls in the Delray Beach area.
Brightline – The train’s owner is also investigating.
