TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA

Incident Summary | A wildfire is burning approximately four miles southwest of Tallahassee, Florida on the Apalachicola National Forest and around the Clear Lake area in Leon County that began on March 9, 2018 around 1639 hours.

Cause | The cause is currently under investigation.

Size Up | As of Wednesday, March 14, 2018, the fire has jumped from 452 acres to a total of 5,622 acres with the aid of firing operations creating an large increase in destroyed land.   There has been a 70% containment status reached as of today’s presser.

Resources | There are currently 33 fire personnel assigned to this incident.

Wildfire Burning In Florida’s Apalachicola National Forest | 1

TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA

Incident Summary | A wildfire is burning approximately four miles southwest of Tallahassee, Florida on the Apalachicola National Forest and around the Clear Lake area in Leon County that began on March 9, 2018 around 1630 hours.

The wildfire is dubbed the #ClearLakeFire.

Cause | The cause is currently under investigation.

Size Up | The fire has burned 452 acres  of southern rough and crew have reached a 50% containment status.

At the moment, the fire’s behavior is moderate, creeping and smoldering.    It has a low spread, backing and flanking into fire lines.

Firefighters will conduct a burnout operation (a firing operation) that will burn up to 5,600 acres of fuels to strengthen containment lines and stopping the forward progression.
