Dallas TX | A food recall has been issued by Hines Nut Company for Walnut halves, pieces after an outside company contracted by the FDA to test a specific lot [6989] found to contain Salmonella.

Those that have purchased this product [Lot#6989] through the supplier Gold State Nut Company located in Biggs, California distributed to Texas to Randall Food Stores are urged not to eat the product and to contact the Hines Nut Company directly.

Food Safety Alert: Bacon Produced by DaBecca Natural Foods Recalled due to Misbranding

DaBecca Natural Foods of Chicago, Illinois is recalling approximately 3,450 pounds of DaBecca Sliced Uncured Apple Smoked Bacon due to misbranding.

The recalled DaBecca Sliced Uncured Apple Smoked Bacon was produced on November 13, 2014 and packaged in 15 lb bulk cases (12 – 14 slices per lb) with case code 114670 30814.

Although the products were produced under inspection, they were packaged and shipped with labels that did not bear the USDA mark of inspection. These products were shipped to institutional distributors in California and Texas.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service and the company have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a health care provider.

FDA Food Recall Notification: Raw Milk Cheese due to Contamination

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE —December 24, 2014 — Lakeview, MI — Farm Country Cheese House of, Lakeview Michigan is recalling 1136.53 pounds of Raw Milk Cheddar, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Raw Milk Cheddar was distributed in the state of Michigan. More specific in the Grand Rapids metro area and, Detroit metro area through retail stores and specialty shops.

The Raw Milk Cheddar in question is packaged under two different labels. The first label will have Farm Country Cheese House logo on the far left hand side, and the product name (Raw Milk Cheddar) will be written on top of the label. This product is sold as an 8 oz block. This product has “Use By Date” on the back of the cheese. The dates are between October 28th 2015 and December 5th 2015. This label will also have a Julian Date in the lower right hand corner. These Julian dates are as follows: 14301, 14302, 14308, 14309, 14324, 14325, 14332, 14336, and 14339.

The second label will have Farm Country Cheese House logo on the far left hand side, and the product name (Raw Milk Cheddar) written in white over a light blue banner this label will have the “Use By Date” on the back, it will not have a Julian Date. The “Use By Date” dates are between October 28th 2015 and December 5th 2015. This will be packaged in 8oz blocks and 5 lb. loafs.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall was the result of a routine sampling program by the FDA which revealed that the finished products contained the bacteria. Farm Country Cheese House has ceased the production and distribution of the product as FDA and the company continues their investigation as to what caused the problem.

FOOD RECALL: Pet Food Due to Possible Salmonella Contamination

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – February 5, 2014 – Pro-Pet LLC, St. Marys, Ohio, has initiated a voluntary recall of a limited number of Dry Dog and Cat Foods for possible Salmonella contamination. A single field test indicated products manufactured during a two day period, on a single production line may have the potential for Salmonella contamination. Pro-Pet LLC is voluntarily recalling the potentially impacted products made during this timeframe. There have been no reports of illness related to this product to date.

Salmonella can affect animals eating the products and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.

Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers.

Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – March 15, 2013 – Grippo Foods, Inc, Cincinnati, OH, is initiating a nationwide recall of all bags and boxes of their Plain Potato Chips, Bar-B-Q Potato Chips, Cheddar Cheese with a touch of Jalapeno Potato Chips, Hot Dill Pickle Potato Chips, Sweet Bermuda Onion Potato chips and Salt & Vinegar Potato Chips. These products may have the potential to contain metal fragments. Consumption of foodborne foreign objects that are hard and sharp may result in moderate or serious injury. Minor injuries such as transient choking, or small lacerations in the oral cavity or gastrointestinal system, as well as Dental injury, such as a fractured tooth, may occur. While, serious injury is remotely possible, it could involve severe choking with airway obstruction, perforation in the oral cavity or gastrointestinal system, or secondary infection due to any of these events.

The recall includes the following: The bagged chips have an expiration date of May 20 and before. The 1.5 pound boxes of chips have an expiration date of April 29 and before. The date code is located in the upper right corner of the package.

These products were distributed to retail markets in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois beginning September 15, 2012 until March 14, 2013.

The firm voluntarily recalled the products after being notified by the Ohio Department of Agriculture that there were metal shavings found in the salt applicator. FDA has been apprised of this action.

No injuries have been reported to date.

Grippo Foods, Inc. is notifying its distributors and customers. Consumers who have purchased these products should stop using and return to place of purchase for a refund.
