Update: Fire officials have identified the timber faller who died Monday while working on the Klone Fire in the Entiat Valley as Chris Seelye of Darby, Mont.
ENTIAT — A timber faller working on the Klone Fire north of Entiat became ill on the fire line Monday afternoon, and died Monday night, fire officials said.
An 11:30 a.m. news release from the Wenatchee Complex said the individual’s name is being withheld at the request of the family.
It said the man was treated by incident medical personnel and transported to a nearby hospital.
“Our condolences go out the the family and the firefighting community,” the release said.
A fire spokesman at the Wenatchee Complex said this afternoon that no other information was available, including the man’s age or hometown, whether he was a contract firefighter, or whether his illness was related to smoke issues.
