On Friday, December 14, 2012, a cowardly single gunman (name not being printed, out of respect for the deceased), 20, forced his way into an elementary school after killing his own mother.
Minutes later after chasing down many students and teachers, 20 children lost their innocent little lives and 6 adults who heroically tried to protect them losing their young lives. The aftermath has literally shook the small town of Newtown, CT and the lives of many across the Country.
Still as we are writing this blog post, we have heard of two more shootings that have happened in Topeka, KS of two police officers and an active shooter incident in a movie theater in Houston, TX.
Though there have been many conversations on Facebook and on many social outlets, it is completely clear who the real Heroes are and we wish to lift them up for their many actions on that tragic day.
On behalf of The NW Fire Blog, we encourage you all to follow in uplifting our Firefighters, EMS personnel and First Responders by sending them a card or letter. Let’s show our support, love and comfort upon those who ran in when it was chaotic, a traumatic aftermath witnessed, seeing so many victims in distress, tiny little innocent lives being taken away and the mental toll it must have taken on them. Let us show them that we are here to listen, to support and to offer encouragement, however way we can.
Please send your letters and/or cards to the following addresses. Let’s network together and show them an outpouring of love, comfort and support.
