Civil Service Joint Application/Testing Process
The City of Tukwila has contracted with PublicSafetyTesting.com to conduct a portion of our entry-level recruitment and testing for police officer and firefighter. Please see the recruitment areas of the Police and Fire sections of our website for salary information and minimum qualifications.
Basically, PublicSafetyTesting.com will conduct the written and physical agility tests and send the applicant scores to our Civil Service Commission for further processing. We will maintain the eligibility/hiring list as we have always done. PublicSafetyTesting.com does not replace any authority or responsibility of the Civil Service Commission.
- From the Public Safety Testing website, applicants will be able to apply online with our agency. No other application form is needed for the joint testing
- Applicants will also be able to apply with other agencies that are utilizing PublicSafetyTesting.com
- Applicants will learn information about each agency, such as department & community information, salary, benefits, how many vacancies, any special requirements an agency may have, etc.
- Applicants will learn information about the written and physical agility examinations
- Applicants will be able to choose a testing date, time and location most convenient for them. Tests will be offered monthly at various locations around the state. Tests are not conducted online.
- After the applicants have tested, and if they pass both the written and physical agility tests, their scores will be sent to our agency and any other agency that they have applied with. Our Civil Service Commission will then further process these applicants. This may include inviting them to an oral board and/or other tests.
- Applicants will then be placed on an eligibility list. The eligibility list is a continuous list–that is, the list itself never expires–names on the list do. Candidate scores are valid for one year on this list. If a candidate is hired by our agency (or any other agency), their name is removed from any other joint testing eligibility list that they are on through PublicSafetyTesting.com
