Yreka, CA | A recent air reconnaissance flight proved the Happy Camp Complex is unwilling to be brought to a 100-percent containment status, increasing another 200 acres. The unrelentless fire has managed to burn uphill to one-quarter mile from Hooligan Lake. The fire has reached a total of 134,056 burned acres, still requiring over 100 firefighters on the fire ground.

However, Firefighters say enough is a enough bringing the fire to its knees at a 97-percent containment status. Repair work continues along with patrolling areas with completing suppression repairs, mitigating hazard tires and responding to smoke within burned areas. They are not giving up without a fight, nor do they wish to leave until the job is done.

They would like to remind the Public to keep outside of the closed areas for their safety and firefighters, while they continue to work in the area. Some Hunters have been seen in various areas. Not only is this unwise but can be hazardous to one’s health. Firefighters need room to work and not have to worry about rescuing someone in an area that should be inhabited.
