Sequoia National Forest, CA
FIRE SUMMARY
A 75 x 150 ft fire along the ground beneath a 150 ft dead tree. It is currently at 1/2 acre.
CAUSE
Storms passed over the area the evening before. It was reported on Monday, April 20, 2015, around 1800 hours.
Lightning struck a dead tree.
CONDITIONS
The terrain is very steep laced with heavy fuels impeding fire crews from accessing the fireground until Tuesday, April 21, 2015.
LOCATION
It is located 3 miles S of Johnsdale in the Western Divide in the Giant Sequoia National Monument of the Sequoia National Forest.
This is also in the same area where the McNally Fire burned in 2002. It is host to snags and heavy dead and downed material and heavy brush.
