FIRE SUMMARY

The Pelican Lake Fire was caused by lightning around 1117 hours on May 14, 2015, prompting firefighters from teh Wildfire Management Branch to respond.

LOCATION

Fire is located 10 km or 6 miles Eaast of Pelican Lake and 80 km or 49 miles NW of Quesnel.

TIMELINE

  • May 14, 2015 | 1117 Hours PDT:  Firefighters respond to fire around 1117 hours PDT.  Fire is listed at 250 hectares or 617 acres.  Resources: 250 firefighters, 2 helos, 45 additional Speciality staff include:  Sustained Action Crews, IMT team are en route with more resources of 2 additional helos, heavy equipment being mobilized.
  • May 15, 2015 | 1141 Hours PDT:    On May 14th, Firefighters and heavy equipment were able to establish 450 meters or 1476 feet of control lines in front of the fire.  Resources:  4 airtankers, 2 skimmer aircraft, 4 helos, 60 personnel, 5 heavy equipment, additional support personnel and 1 IMT team.  Threats:  0 structures are being threatened at this time.  Growth:  No new growths reported on the fire and remains at 250 hectares or 67 acres.
