The Whitefish Lake wildfire is located eleven [11] miles SW of Kalskag in Alaska, having started on Forest service lands.  It has consumed 8,798 acres, with a 0% containment status.

Fire fuels of timber and short grass are affected by extreme fire behavior with crowning, running and torching.

Currently, there are four [4] crews, and 84 personnel from the Forest Service are on scene.

The fire cost-to-date is approximately $752,000.00.

The cause is unknown at this time.
